The quality of tungsten carbide is determined by the quality of the starting powders. This is why AFC Hartmetall works closely with our powder suppliers to ensure they are the highest quality and tailor-made for our products. 

Because tungsten carbide is a composite material made of several components, the possibilities for producing different carbides are almost limitless. You can vary:

• the proportion of tungsten carbide (WC) and cobalt (Co)
• the initial grain sizes of the powders used
• different additives to limit grain growth and to improve service life.
